Romantic Purple & Burgundy Gothic-Inspired Fall Wedding at the Grove Park Inn || Asheville, NC
Undeniably, the best part of being a wedding photographer is getting to witness couples not just on their most joyful days, but in the many facets that make them who they are.
I first met Kaylyn and Jake - and I mean spoke my very first words to them - a few happy tears after Jake had gotten down on one knee in the middle of an apple orchard on a warm autumn day to ask Kaylyn that all-important question. In the course of the last couple of years photographing with them, each of Kaylyn’s black dresses has been more epic than the last, ending with her truly jaw-dropping wedding gown. Jake also wow-ed in his own right in a custom tailored pinstripe look; each of their sartorial choices proving that being true to yourself on your wedding day is always more fun.
Their dark romantic theme carried through the candlelight reception in the photographer’s dream of a floral color palette. Then, thanks to Amber & Sierra’s genius planning, we got to fully lean into the spooky vibes with a perfectly-matching smoke bomb to kick off their tiny-but-mighty dance party (followed by late night grilled cheese and milkshakes!) However, amidst all of their visual beauty and artistic details, it was their devotion to each other that wove through their celebration the most, leaving every person out on the lawn a little teary-eyed as these two made their deeply heartfelt vows to each other.
Thank you so much to everyone who came together not just last weekend, but last year when the hurricane changed everything, to truly celebrate the Queens in royal fashion.
