Joyful Destination Wedding Celebration Overlooking the Rockies at Ashley Ridge || Denver, CO

As a wedding photographer, it’s not very often that I get to document the most joyful day for someone with whom I spent every Thanksgiving rambunctiously running around my parents’ house, hiding in the tops of closets and then sprinting up and down the stairs while playing light saber tag. Someone who was also my track teammate in high school (although, if you couldn’t tell from his weight room habits, we competed in wildly different events.) I was over the moon last year when Seth and Hayley asked me to photograph their wedding, and getting to spend an evening this spring dancing around downtown Knoxville for their engagement session only solidified my excitement. So, on a fairly warm (ha!) July day in Colorado, when I got to watch my cousin and now-cousin-in-law celebrate their love for each other, got to watch my grandmother join the trio of “flower grandmothers,” got to watch a room full of far-traveling loved one come together for an epic dance party, I was more than a little happily overwhelmed by the sheer amount of life we’ve lived since those early family holidays.

Planning a wedding from across the country while working a demanding job and moving several times is a feat of its own, but being so thoughtful and welcoming in the process is - from what I learned from her loved ones’ speeches - what truly defines Hayley. To be able to come in from North Carolina and share in her family’s happiness, spend the morning with her friends laughing and being impressed by their musical prowess, watch her continually bring even the newest friends (me!) into the fold, made the weekend truly special. Thank you for having us, and thank you to all the folks who made the weekend so full of joy!
