UNC Asheville Athletics Lead Photographer
From 2012-2020 I was UNC Asheville’s lead sports photographer documenting all home events and many post-season competitions, planning and conducting all media days, and photographing any sports-related conferences and speakers. After moving from Asheville, from 2021-2023, I photographed all team media days.
Media Day Photographs
Each media day included individual portraits of each athlete set against a neutral backdrop, action shots of each athlete - as well as groups - against a white backdrop for graphics purposes, dramatically-lit action shots of upperclassmen on their respective playing fields, and team photos. These were used in all department promotional material online and in print. Action shots were photographed mindful of copy needs and players’ personalities.
Action Shots
Before every competition, I photographed the last few minutes of warmup for social media purposes. I then focused on documenting the action while capturing as many individual athletes as possible. For all sports, I moved around the competition field to change vantage points, ensuring multiple angles for a variety of coverage.
Features and Promotions
In addition to event coverage, I also set up and photographed individual features, highlighting athletes’ stories and teams’ success. I also photographed team gear and other products to send to team sponsors and include in communications with donors.
