Multi-Media Digital Marketing and Fundraising for High School Track & Field Team
While my dad, as the ORHS Sports Information Director, handles the majority of the school’s athletics media needs, I had the pleasure of working with my former cross country and track & field teams on a few specialty projects. Primarily, I worked on the promotions arm of the fundraising team to build a new state-of-the-art track & field facility, creating a variety of content to reach potential donors, celebrate progress, and hype the athletes.
Custom-Built Website for Track Facility Fundraising
To begin this project, I create a multi-page informational website built aesthetically on the program’s historic record of success while describing each phase of the building process. This included discussing individual costs (high jump pit, hurdles) as well as the impact that the facility will have on the community. The site also included multiple donation links on each page with text and graphics designed to move viewers quickly through the information and directly to the donations page.
Pre-Meet Hype Video for Tack Team Video Board
To kick off the team’s inaugural track and field meet in their new facility, I shot a 30 second hype video to be played before each meet. This video showcased individual athletes flexing for the camera, as well as competitors from each discipline participating in their respective fields. I shot the video in 4k to appear in top quality on the Jumbotron while still running smoothly.
Ghost-Written Project Updates for Donor Newsletter
As part of the multi-stage fundraising project, I wrote a series of email newsletters - posted also as website blogs - to update donors and subscribers with the project’s progress. These newsletters were ghostwritten in the head coach’s voice and included photos taken by myself and other community members to visually document each milestone.
Athlete-Driven Hype Videos for Facility Video Board and Social Media
This 4k hype video played on the video board of each ORHS track meet, to kick off each meet. I shot this video primarily to hype up the athletes before each competition, promoting team spirit and confident personality.
I created this video as part of the cross country team’s digital campaign, as both a horizontal video for their community Facebook groups and a reel for the school’s and team’s Instagram pages. This project fused the team’s storied and historic success, with the spirit of the current crew.
